The city updated the landmarks committee of Cobble Hill’s community board on plans to convert a firehouse at 299 Degraw Street into the headquarters of the Brooklyn Philharmonic, Brownstoner reported. The site is nestled between Court, Smith, Douglass and Degraw Streets. Noah Kaufman, a representative from the Department of Design and Construction said that the agency would hold a site inspection on Feb. 5 and bidding for the project would open on Feb. 20., with construction slated for early July. The 4,250-square-foot space’s main floor will have a multi-purpose room and rehearsal rooms in the back, he said. There would also be rehearsal rooms upstairs. Apart from renovations to the garage door, the exterior of the 19th Century firehouse would be preserved, Kaufman added. [more]![]()
